The stretch linking American House to Madina was engulfed by heavy traffic on Wednesday evening as the NPP’s rally went on.
President Akufo-Addo was in attendance as part of his two-day tour of the Greater Accra region, as he offered his support to the party’s parliamentary candidate for the constituency, Lydia Alhassan.
However, a few metres away from the rally, some drivers were busily lamenting the heavy traffic caused by a faulty traffic light.
At the time of this report, the traffic lights between the Pulse Ghana building and the Shell fuel station were not functioning.
This, therefore, caused heavy traffic on the stretch which links American House to Madina and the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA).
The situation left many drivers fuming, as the traffic lights on this stretch are known to often develop recurring faults.
In October 2019, a similar non-functional traffic light at the Shell Fuel Station at American House, East Legon led to an accident.
The accident, which involved three cars, saw one of the vehicles crash into the Pulse Ghana wall.
Although there were no casualties, the incident caused heavy traffic in the area, as the Police took hours to arrive at the scene.
